Substrate Cleaning
Prior to Coating, all substrates are precision cleaned in an automated five-step ultrasonic process. Substrates are transported through each step robotically. This system was custom made for High End Systems to accomodate our 30" substrates and provide us with an exceptional level of substrate cleanliness, which translates to excellent film adhesion and minimizes the occurence of optical defects.

Coating Facility
High End Systems' coating operation consists of the three 96" diameter coating plants, each capable of coating 4.241.1 in² of substrates in a single run.

In a single coating run, each chamber is capable of processing;
    6 - 30" Diameter substrates (1.1mm to 3.3mm thickness)
    72 - 6"×6" Plates (as thin as .7mm)
    24 - 6.65" Diameter substrates with textured/irregular surfaces
    (Custom sizing of bulk filters is available, please visit our sizing page.)

To ensure optimum coating performance and repeatibility, our coating chambers are outfitted with advanced digital control components, state- of-the-art automation platforms, custom optical monitoring software and real-time residual gas analysis.

Coating Process
Our thin films are produced by layering low intrinsic absorption oxide compounds (TiO2, Si O2) in an ion-assisted physical vapor deposition process -- resulting in the production of dichroic filters with superior optical and mechanical properties.

Coating Performance
All of the High End Systems dichroic filters exceed the following criteria:
    Tolerance of ±10 nanometers from specified 50% cut-off
    >85% Tavg in pass band
    MIL-C-48497 (Test for Adhesion)
    MIL-C-48497 (Moderate and Severe abrasion test)
In addition, our filters are proven to withstand the intense internal operating temperatures of High End Systems' high output luminaires.
